New York Marathon
Running for a cause
What better reason to complete the 42,195 km course than to run for a charitable cause ? As well as enjoying such an enormous sporting challenge and the extroardinary experience it involved, we decided we wanted to support a humanitarian cause by competing in the New York Marathon.
In November 2005, four of the company's employees decided to take up the challenge. A group of Brio'Gel employees calling themselves " Challenge Four » got together for the occasion. The aim was to raise as much money as possible to support the « Acting Together For Madagascar » fund, a charity association that helps the disadvantaged children of Madagascar.
At the same time, we visit schools in and around the Vendée to talk to schoolkids about this amazing human and sporting experience.
The purpose of this experience was to convey a number of messages:
- On a humanitarian level, by trying to raise funds in aid of Madagascar.
- On an educational level by visiting schools to explain about the physical preparation and talk about the situation in Madagascar.
- On a sporting level by completing the many kilometres involved.
- On a company level by reporting to employees on the progress of the project and the results after the finish.
€20 = a child's meals for the academic year €20 = 1 Km
